The Meaning of Numbers

To assess how these numbers apply to you, consider their placement. When you find this number in your Personality, Outer Manner, or in Abilities (2 or 3 of them), you should relate easily to these characteristics. When this number is missing, in your Challenges Triangle, or in your Abilities with 4 or more of them, you will feel compulsive about proving yourself, striving to become what this number represents.

#1 - INITIATE - CENTER

You are strong willed and know what feels right for you. You have a natural “take charge” approach. Responsibility is something you assume in any situation. Sometimes you may feel responsible for others as well, without realizing they have their own sense of what’s right for them. You may take over, when it would be best to let them “learn to tie their own shoes”, no matter how fumbling their efforts may seem to you.

When the situation calls for someone to get things rolling, you’re already there. You start things easily, and may have more irons in the fire than you can handle. Your staying power to see it through might be more challenging for you. (Check for good solid even numbers, especially the 6’s.)

You have an inner sense of identity that holds up under the most disruptive situations. Depending on your other numbers, you will follow your inner gut "knowing", or struggle with the feeling that you can't move in the direction you need to go. (Look at how the intuition 7, define tasks 4, and dedicated 6 are placed.)

#2 - CONTEXT - Resources - What's SO now

You are resourceful, making the most from your possessions and your contacts. You have a practical nature that is always mindful of the outcome you're after. You keep close tabs on your checkbook balance, your pantry stores, and your gas gauge. You generally have something stashed away for backup.

You develop rapport with others easily. In one on one conversation, you come across clearly and lucidly. If the 2's are extensive, or in the challenges triangle, you may charm your way into getting what you want. You will be tactful, no matter what the objective.

When the 2 becomes an 11, some of the practicality is lost. This bumps everything up a notch, and gives you the ability to communicate with larger groups of people, and deal with budgets on a larger scale. While this is an asset, the more fundamental aspect of the sensible 2 is one that may take extra effort on your part.

# 3 OPTIONS

You can see options and possibilities that few others would have thought of. When the way seems blocked, you can find the alternate routes. You have confidence in your ability to think outside the box, and may find yourself being relied on for answers, both at work and in relationships.

The 3 can be fanciful and give the most improbable ideas time to find their way into the realms of possibility. When giving the 3 full rein, you are unencumbered by logic, content to let your thoughts expand and probe. While others patiently explain why this is impossible, you are working out the pathway to bring it into reality.

Depending on the placement of the 3's, you may find writing or artistic talent that could become your career. (Check for extensive 5's for the independent freelancer.) Creative and expressive wherever you are, you absorb copious amounts of input before coming to a conclusion.

If the 3's are extensive, you may find yourself gathering data well beyond the point where it could be put into use, as in "analysis paralysis".

#4 DEFINE

Solid "get it done" mode, you can see the way to chunk down all the big ideas into the bricks that will make it happen. If you're short on 3's, you may be the perfect person to help the dreamer come down out of the clouds. If you've got 3's well placed, they may be your very own dreams.

You like things in their place, and on schedule. You may be so structured in your habits that you know what day it is by what you ate. Routine is your way of taming the wild world. Extensive 4's would make you intolerant of anyone who didn't adhere to your regimen.

Sometimes the 4 gets into task mode and doesn't stop to ask whether these actions actually relate to your most important objectives. For you, it may be action for its own sake. You may find you clean, sort, and polish things alot.

When the 4 becomes a Master Number 22, you may be better at chunking down bigger projects into bite sized actions. You may find it easier to do this for others than for yourself. You are more apt to be interested when the objective is on a larger scale, in which case, you'll be the one for the job.

#5 EMOTION Number

You are the firecracker, the enthusiastic student or life who instantly becomes entranced. Sometimes you leap before you look, and end up in strange places, when hindsight would have cautioned you to steer clear. You blithely go on to the next adventure, anxious for whatever it has in store for you.

Your mantra is "Don't fence me in". Freedom is a state of mind, but your mind will see even the most innocent of guidelines as rules that confine your mobility to explore and discover.

The 5 is energy and you can extend yourself tirelessly, reaching down into your bootstraps for that last little bit to keep going. Because you are so certain you can do this, you may end up exhausted, but not realize it until you're past the point where a 15 minute break would have given you more stamina.

If there are extensive 5's, you can count on being self-employed. Even working for someone else, you think of yourself as volunteering to show up.

The other side of the 5 is the fear and doubt. Emotion in all its forms, from playful to terrified, is the domain of the 5 energy. If the 5 is well placed, you may escape the down side and be the buoyant spice that brightens everyone's day.

#6 DEDICATION

You are the nurturer, the selflessly giving worker who stays till the wee hours and won't quit till they make you stop. You are the Earth Mother to every lost soul, or watching over things to make sure every detail is covered.

Others can always count on you. When you say you'll do it, it gets done. Often you work behind the scenes while the credit goes to someone more flamboyant. If your 6's are in good shape, this is just fine with you. If you have no 6's, or there are extensive 6's, you may be a bit of a martyr about the whole thing.

The 6 lesson is to choose your dedication carefully, so you derive tremendous satisfaction from it, and be appreciated for not making reward a condition of giving.

#7 LISTEN / DO

You are sensitive intuitive. You like your solitude. You need quiet so that you can hear your little voice, which is your primary source of guidance.

You are spiritual, without the rhetoric. For you, it's just the way to find what's right. You think, "Doesn't everyone do it this way?" You are willingness personified. You are on alert, without tension, for the next urge, the next whisper. Sometimes it tells you to be still. Other times it compels prompt action.

You amaze others with your uncanny sense of timing. Your agility keeps everyone on their toes. Extensive 7's are rare, but if you've got them, count on being psychic.

A missing 7 will make sanctuary a main priority in your lifestyle. You'll want copious amounts of time alone. You're not lonely. You're busy.

#8 COLLABORATE

Here we have the organizer, the one who can pull all the diverse talents together into a team. The true nature of the 8 is that everyone wins.

When it is missing or in the challenge triangle, you could find the extremes of the 8 showing up. It's all or nothing; delegate everything you don't want to handle, or do it all yourself. You may delegate and then go back and un-delegate, much to the frustration of the person who thought they were going to enjoy the sense of accomplishment in putting this together.

The 8 is about the use and misuse of power. It doesn't necessarily mean a powerful person. It just means that power is either a lesson to be learned or is used wisely and considerately. Watch for the placement of the 8's. If it shows up in the blessings triangle, you can relax. Chances are you will be the very best boss who is never bossy.

#9 COMPLETIONS

You are the grand poobah of kindness. Always concerned for the good of all, from the family to the cosmos, you do things with an eye to how they fit into the larger scheme of things.

For you, there is always a higher authority. It may be a parent figure, or it may be God, but you see yourself as serving the higher cause.

If there are extensive 1's, there could be a see-saw between giving selflessly and the backlash of reality when you realize you have nothing left for yourself. Usually this results in head on collisions with parent, partner, or employer, or even God Himself. The solution is to put yourself on the list of the humanity you serve. (Check the 8's to see if you've got this one balanced out elsewhere, so you can offset this.)

Sometimes the 9 doesn't always choose the highest authority wisely. Politicians often have 9's that play a role in serving vested interests, rather than the public at large. In this case, look at the Inner Values to see where ethics will be upheld.
